The Kaz 45 Box
Today marks fifty years since we lost Buddy Holly.
For a scholarly discussion you're going to have to go somewhere else.
For me, it's all about this record.

I find it shocking how times flies after someone's death. It's almost indecent...like we shouldn't go on without them. But we have no choice. Time is so callous.
I always appreciate these glimpses into what music was like for you older guys on xanga.
yes, I enjoy hearing you older xanga talk about the music of your time but I'm older then you and the only reason I knew about Buddy Holly is because my brother was 5 yrs old and sisters were 4 and 3 years older then I was.
My brother had one of those plastic radio's that sat on his desk and it was plugged in but very light weight next ot the old radio's.
I should know about Buddy Holly since he's from West Texas but all I know is that if you use his name or image you still have to go through his widow.
you have to go see the jeep guy Andy at BB61 he has a tribute to Buddy and the other guys on the plane.
I am 34 years old. February 3, 1988 I was in seventh grade. It marked the first of many February 3rds that I wore Black and Blue (Buddy's song Blue Days, Black Nights) I swore to make a pilgramage to Lubbock Texas, I spent a huge amount of money (at that time) on a book about Buddy Holly... I even saw the Broadway show starring Paul Hipp... My Father who was 16 at the time of Buddy's death to this day still calls me when he has a question. My peers were into The New Kids On the Block, and Bel Biv Devoe, I always knew I was born in the wrong era. Thanks for a lovely simple tribute.
@jillcarmel - No. Tell him to come here. I'm too lazy to go there.
@Stacey - WOW Stacey! That is incredible. I love Holly just as much. Check out that new CD called "Rarities." I just ordered it. It looks really cool.
@doahsdeer - SORRY CAIN'T HEAR YA SPEAK UP SONNY.
@jillcarmel - Literally go through his widow?
thanks for a bit of a wistful smile, ed
@Ed_Kaz - lol I think she's too old for that now. Andy has an old tape of rock and roll specialist
I'm not sure I know what a rock and roll specialist is, but I'm pretty sure my HMO makes me get a referral and pay an extra $25. Do I really need a specialist to listen to Buddy Holly and the Rickets?
@jillcarmel - @doahsdeer -
I prefer rock 'n' roll generalists.
@Ed_Kaz - see you are a specialist,too.
Hell yeah, Kaz! Thanks for sharing—hadn't heard that one in a while. Though my personal favorite is the one about rollercoasters. Didn't know that yesterday was the day—totally odd because I happened to mention Buddy Holly and the plane crash yesterday.
